Louise and Matt are two of our most successful franchisees and look after some of our biggest clients.

What did you do before joining the Christmas Decorators?

My career before becoming a Christmas Decorator was in hospitality, catering & events.

My last job was as an Operations Manager at the University of Birmingham looking after 1000’s of Freshers, settling them into University life.

My team ran shops, bars and restaurants and we organised hundreds of events throughout the year including the countries largest student run music festival.

Before my University career I managed bars and restaurants, organised weddings and corporate events and for many years was an area manager for a large contract caterer.

What made you choose The Christmas Decorators Franchise?

I love Christmas!

I was looking for a business that best used my skills, project management, leading teams and giving great customer service. The Christmas Decorator Franchise focuses on these key skills, so it was a great fit for me.

I wanted a business that I could grow and grow quickly, the Christmas Decorating business is relatively new in the UK and an untapped market.

It would have seemed logical for me to take a “food” franchise however there is so much competition for these businesses unlike The Christmas Decorators where we are in many ways unique.

How useful did you find the initial training?

The training was not only useful but essential, particularly the practical skills. The training covers all aspects of producing decorated trees & garlands, installing external lights and decorations.

The training takes you through the whole process, marketing your business, putting together a scheme and pricing, health and safety requirements and how to find an installation team.

What kind of support have you received from the head office team?

The initial training is intensive and comprehensive, but it doesn’t end there, I have found the head office support a continuation of the training.

They have been there to advise and guide throughout the six years I have had my franchise and the yearly training sessions and refresher courses held each year are invaluable.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the business?

Christmas really is a magical time of year and to be part of that is something very special.

To our residential clients we are the start of their Christmas celebrations, we are greeted with mince pies and Christmas music is on and you cannot help but enjoy your day.

To our commercial clients, installing amazing displays in our home City is a privilege and it really impresses your friends and family!

What advice would you have for anyone thinking of taking on a territory?

It is unlikely you will find a franchise with such potential in terms of sales growth, we have little competition, unique products and are service driven.

The installation period is intensive however the rest of the year allows you a good work life balance.

To start a business six years ago literally from the kitchen table to now running a large company operating from a 6000 sq ft warehouse is an achievement I will never tire from.
